Mogadishu (Himilonetwork) – In 1991, the collapse of the central government, the civil war which broke out in Somalia has led to widespread displacement. Missing people either families, relatives or friends have increased as a result of people’s run away.
Many Somalis fled the country and a lot of families are dispersed around the globe. Hence, to cope with this tragedy, the country’s mainstream media including radio, TVs, websites and newspapers have come up new daily programs in which the messages of those missing ones are broadcasted.
Baafin – The missing persons program contains messages and letters written by people who have lost contact with relatives or friends. Mogadishu and the regional media outlets were the only source that provide such service to the community.
As radio Himilo, we have succeeded to share the sufferings with our community in the aftermath of the civil war.
Here is one such example.
